Kevin B. Sneed, PharmD, senior associate vice president of USF Health and founding dean of the USF College of Pharmacy, earned the Excellence in Innovation Award from the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA).
Dr. Sneed, who was presented with the award June 27at Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA) 125th Annual meeting, earned the award for creating Pharmacy Plus, the innovative pharmacy onsite at the USF Health Carol & Frank Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare on the USF Tampa campus.
FPA President-Elect Tim Rogers announced the award, saying that the USF Health Pharmacy Plus “serves as a model for other pharmacists of what we can offer to patients in today¹s changing healthcare climate.”
Pharmacy Plus opened in April 2015 offers advanced support to patients and a hands-on learning opportunity for pharmacy students. The space offers technology at its core while providing a personalized, patient centric experience with on-site pharmacists who are part of the entire healthcare team.
The annual award is presented only to pharmacists who have demonstrated innovative pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care. The national award is coordinated by the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations and sponsored by Upsher-Smith Laboratories, Inc., to recognize and honor a qualified pharmacist who has demonstrated significant innovation in their respective practice, method or service directly or indirectly resulting in improved patient care and/or advancement of the profession of pharmacy.
The FPA, founded in 1887, is a state wide professional pharmacy organization with nearly 4,000 members and 18 invited and affiliated organizations united to advance health care and pharmacy practice. The FPA is a member of the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations.
The NASPA, founded in 1927, is dedicated to enhancing the success of state pharmacy associations in their efforts to advance the profession of pharmacy. NASPA’s membership is comprised of state pharmacy associations and more than 70 other stakeholder organizations. NASPA promotes leadership, sharing, learning, and policy exchange among its members and pharmacy leaders nationwide.
