Nadim Bou Zgheib, MD, gynecologic oncology fellow in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, recently received more than $24,000 from the H.O.W. Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper for his ovarian cancer research.

Dr. Bou Zgheib, who is in his final year of gynecologic oncology fellowship training in the USF Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is one of two Florida physicians to receive funds from H.O.W, a program of Palm Healthcare Foundation. The group provided more than $40,000 through the Jacquie Liggett Fellowship, allowing continued funding of research and progression in the field of gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Bou Zgheib was awarded $24,750 for his research into the mutations within ovarian cancer cells. The funds will help support his clinical research and provide several training opportunities to improve his surgical skills, such as attending seminars and surgical robotics labs, as well as a one-week observership at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, NY. This is the third year in a row that H.O.W. has selected Dr. Bou Zgheib as a Jacquie Liggett Fellowship Grant recipient.
H.O.W. Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper is a nonprofit organization that raises money for ovarian cancer research, presents free educational programs, offers financial assistance for women in need and provides scholarships to medical students interested in gynecologic oncology. H.O.W. is a program of Palm Healthcare Foundation and was founded by the late Jacquie Liggett.
