Hudey, who worked with USF Health’s John Sleasman, MD, professor of internal medicine and pediatrics, was awarded $2,000 by the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections for her work titled “Persistently Activated CD27+CD80+ B Cells Following ART Correlate with Macrophage Activation.”

In addition to the scholarship, which covers Hudey’s travel and expenses to the group’s conference held in March in Boston, MA, her abstract was accepted for poster presentation at the conference. The winning research is based on work completed last summer funded by the USF Health Research Scholarly Concentration summer stipend program.

The annual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections brings together top scientists from around the world to share the latest studies, important developments, and best methods in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases.
