USF Neurosurgeon Fernando Vale, MD, provided the presidential address at the annual meeting of the Southern Neurosurgical Society, held in Puerto Rico in February.
Dr. Vale, who was elected president of the Southern Neurosurgical Society last year, culminated his one-year term as president by coordinating and hosting the annual scientific meeting.
Dr. Vale is professor of neurosurgery, division chief for Neurosurgery for the Morsani College of Medicine, surgical director for the USF Pituitary Disease Clinic, and surgical director for the Tampa General Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. He is also co-surgical director for USF’s Parkinson’s disease surgery program.
Established in 1949, the Southern Neurosurgical Society is the largest regional neurosurgical society in the United States.
