Arthur Labovitz, MD, FACC, professor and chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, has been nominated to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE).

This NBE board serves to set standards, administer examinations, and provides certification to cardiologists and cardiovascular anesthesiologists in the field of clinical echocardiography.
Dr. Labovitz, who holds the Edward C. Wright Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine, will serve on the 12-member board for a 2-year term through fall of 2015. He served as president of the NBE from 2003 to 2005.
Dr. Labovitz is also medical director of Cardiac Imaging at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, medical director for Non-Invasive Cardiology Services at Tampa General and co-director of Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging at Florida Hospital Tampa.
